I kind of liked my little luau-inspired header that used to be on the top of the page. I used the font from the Hawaiian Punch can, and I really like Hawaiian Punch. Also, I had planned the change out the panel on the far right with a new teaser graphic every couple weeks, which was a pretty sweet idea:
But my all-knowing webmistress/editor/girlfriend had a few words to say about the graphic. "Unprofessional," "ginormous," "unsexy," and "random" were some of those words. "Draw something else" were the next words. So I have a mermaid now. And you know, she's right, it's a lot better. And I like mermaids even more than I like Hawaiian Punch, so it wasn't too much of a sacrifice after all.
